Static and Time-Varying Gravity for Vertical Datums, Groundwater, and Land Subsidence

About the Meeting
This meeting aims to promote regional collaboration in gravity, geoid modeling, vertical reference systems, and time-varying gravity applications. In addition to traditional static gravity topics such as geoid determination and vertical datum modernization, the meeting will emphasize emerging applications of terrestrial time-varying gravity in groundwater studies, managed aquifer recharge, and land-subsidence monitoring.
The meeting will provide a platform for researchers, national mapping agencies, geodetic institutions, and young scientists in the Asia-Pacific region to exchange methods, data, and experiences. We especially welcome participation from countries interested in strengthening their gravity, geoid, and vertical reference activities, as well as those exploring terrestrial gravimetry for hydrological and environmental applications.
Workshop Objectives
- Strengthen scientific cooperation in gravity and geoid research across the Asia-Pacific region.
- Promote exchange among national mapping agencies, universities, geodetic institutions, and early-career researchers.
- Discuss terrestrial, airborne, marine, and satellite gravity observations and their geoscience applications.
- Advance regional geoid modeling, physical height systems, and vertical datum consistency.
- Explore joint projects, instrument comparisons, training activities, student exchanges, and future regional observation campaigns.
